Moss agate is a form of chalcedony quartz whose dendritic patterns — threadlike inclusions of manganese oxide and chlorite — create the appearance of fern fronds, forest canopies, or river deltas within the stone. No two moss agates contain the same pattern: the internal landscape of each stone is wholly unique, making this one of the few engagement rings where the centre stone itself cannot be reproduced identically. The hexagon cut is an Art Deco-appropriate shape — geometric and precise — that also echoes natural forms (honeycombs, snowflakes, basalt columns). The marquise sapphire wings flanking the centre read as petals or leaves, giving the setting a botanical quality that reinforces the organic character of the moss agate.
