Lab alexandrite. Emerald cut. Full eternity band. A ring that changes color — green in daylight, purple in incandescent light.

This emerald cut alexandrite eternity band features lab-created alexandrite stones in rectangular emerald/step cuts prong-set continuously around the entire band — a full eternity where the color change phenomenon wraps completely around the finger. Alexandrite's defining characteristic is its alexandrite effect: the stone appears a distinct teal-to-green in daylight or fluorescent light, and shifts to a purple-to-red under incandescent or candlelight. In an eternity band, this means the ring's entire color changes with the light source — a teal green band in sunlight that becomes a deep purple band indoors. Available in 925 sterling silver, silver with yellow plating, silver with rose plating, or gold alloy in whole and quarter sizes from US 3 to 10. Handcrafted in Jaipur.

The Alexandrite Effect: Color Change

Alexandrite is a variety of chrysoberyl whose color-change property is caused by the way chromium — the same element that makes emeralds green and rubies red — absorbs light. Chromium in alexandrite absorbs light in a narrow band of the visible spectrum (yellow-green), transmitting both blue-green and red wavelengths simultaneously. In daylight, which contains more blue light, the blue-green transmission dominates and the stone appears green or teal. Under incandescent light, which has a stronger red component, the red transmission dominates and the stone appears purple or red. The same chromium that makes alexandrite change color also makes it extremely rare in nature — fine natural alexandrite is one of the most expensive gemstones in the world. Lab-created alexandrite replicates this color-change phenomenon exactly, with the same chromium-based optical mechanism, making the effect fully accessible without the rarity premium.

Why Emerald Cut for an Eternity Band?

The emerald cut's rectangular silhouette and clean parallel edges create a precise, architectural row of stones across the band's surface — each stone's step facets reflecting light in broad, calm planes rather than scattered points, creating a coherent ribbon of color-changing light across the finger. In an eternity band, where stones repeat continuously, the emerald cut's disciplined geometry also creates a particularly ordered, regular pattern — each stone's clean edges aligning with its neighbors to form a seamless, tessellated sequence of rectangles rather than the more varied, less structured appearance of round stones in a continuous setting.

Important: Full Eternity Bands Cannot Be Resized

Because the stones wrap completely around the band, a full eternity ring cannot be resized after it is made. Please ensure you select your accurate ring size when ordering.
