Larimar is a rare blue pectolite found exclusively in the Dominican Republic. Its characteristic blue-and-white marbled appearance is caused by copper substitution in the mineral structure — the intensity of blue, the ratio of blue to white, and the specific pattern vary from stone to stone and cannot be precisely controlled. Your stone will have the same ocean-blue character shown in the product photos, but with its own unique matrix. Because Larimar has a Mohs hardness of 4.5–5, it is softer than most gemstones used in jewelry and benefits from mindful daily care (see below).
