An alternating opal and moissanite half-eternity band with milgrain-bordered settings — handcrafted in Jaipur from solid 925 sterling silver. The ring sequences two contrasting optical effects in a repeating alternating pattern. Moissanite has exceptionally high dispersion (0.104 — more than double diamond’s 0.044), which means it throws strong rainbow fire flashes as it moves in light. Opal’s play-of-colour is a different phenomenon entirely — soft pastel shifts produced by diffraction through a silica nanosphere lattice, dependent on viewing angle rather than light source. In alternation, the sequence reads as sharp rainbow flash / soft pastel shift / sharp rainbow flash / soft pastel shift across the band. The milgrain borders around the moissanite settings — rows of tiny metal beads formed along the edge of each setting — are a technique common in Edwardian and Art Deco jewellery; they break up the metal edge with a textured finish that reads as vintage at any scale. The low-profile slim band makes this one of the most stackable pieces in the catalogue.

Opal (Mohs 5.5–6.5) requires careful handling. It contains water in its structure and can crack in very dry conditions or with sudden temperature changes (crazing) — avoid prolonged heat, direct sunlight, and dehumidified storage. Do not use ultrasonic or steam cleaners. Remove before swimming, showering, or applying perfume and lotions. Store in a lightly padded box away from harder stones. Moissanite is highly durable (Mohs 9.25) and requires no special care beyond standard. Wipe gently with a soft damp cloth; dry thoroughly before storing.
